Duval also runs a long established magnet system, including Stanton College Preparatory School and Paxon School for Advanced Studies, both International Baccalaureate programs.

The Bolles School and Episcopal School of Jacksonville are long established independent options, each with multiple campuses. For higher education, the University of North Florida sits on a large preserve campus on the Southside, Jacksonville University sits on the St. Johns River, and Edward Waters University is a historically Black university in the city. Commutes and getting away

Plan the commute around the water. I-95 is the north to south spine, I-10 heads west, and I-295 loops the whole city with express lanes on part of the run.
